Assist Recovery Efforts in the Mountain Communities

The City of San Bernardino and the Inland Empire 66ers have joined together to assist the County of San Bernardino and San Bernardino County Fire in their efforts to respond to the unprecedented snowstorm that blanketed the local mountain communities. Beginning March 6, San Manuel Stadium, home of the 66ers, is being used to centralize equipment and personnel providing assistance to mountain residents and businesses.

The City and local minor league baseball team were contacted by San Bernardino County Fire on Sunday, March 5 with an urgent request to assist them in securing space to coordinate personnel and equipment for their ongoing emergency response. The City of San Bernardino owns the stadium and the I.E. 66ers operate the facility.

By the next day, dump trucks, loaders, sleeping quarters, showers, and other resources were being relocated to the stadium. There currently are approximately 500 staff and heavy equipment on rotating shifts working on the response efforts.
