SB City Housing Provider Spotlight

City of San Bernardino’s collaboration with Health Care In Action (HIA)

Since February, HIA has provided medical aid to over 200 homeless patients within the City of San Bernardino.  Eddie Menacho (Middle) acts as the lead PA for the Street Medicine Team in San Bernardino for HIA, Eddie brings a plethora of experience ranging from work in Critical Care and Internal Medicine plus prior work with University of Southern California’s street medicine team. HIA’s services range from substance abuse and mental health treatment, diagnoses and acute and chronic illnesses treatment including intervention services similar to primary care clinics; EKG’s, blood draws, point of care tests, incision and drainage, and wound care.

HIA through IEHP, has provided enhanced care management (ECM) and community support services (CSS). This has enabled HIA take patients to their appointments, pick up medications, assist in access to healthcare, and assist in acquiring temporary or permanent housing.

Eddie states, “Our mission is to continue to break down the disparities and barriers that prevent our patients from being functional and contributing members of the city. We look forward to working with organizations in the city to continue moving the needle in providing solutions to the homeless crisis we currently face.”

The City of San Bernardino’s communities continue to be cared for because of Health Care in Action, we are very appreciative for their collaboration.

City of San Bernardino’s partnership with the Benjamin E. Jones Community Resource Center (BEJCRC)

Since 2015, Pastor Jones, the founder of BEJCRC, has been an integral figure in the City of San Bernardino community. He has gained recognition for his philanthropic endeavors, particularly his partnership with the city and the Loma Linda "UReach program," which offers mobile shower access to the homeless population. In addition, Pastor Jones extends invitations to various local providers to participate in a monthly resource event (see schedule below). This event goes beyond mobile shower access and includes hot meals provided by the Salvation Army, clean clothing, food distribution, and even vaccination services for dogs.

Pastor Jones firmly believes in the reciprocal nature of giving and blessings.  He often asserts, "We give because we're blessed, and we're blessed because we give."

The City of San Bernardino expresses its deep appreciation for Pastor Jones's exceptional contributions.

The resource event takes place as follows:

Perris Hill Park: Every 3rd Friday of the month, from 9 AM to 11:30 AM.

Seccombe Lake Park: Every 4th Friday of the month, from 9 AM to 12:00 PM.
