New Fire Station Coming to Del Rosa Avenue
After close to two decades, a new fire station is coming to the City of San Bernadino. On Tuesday, August 8th, the County Board of Supervisors approved a new Fire Station 226 to be built at 1920 Del Rosa Avenue. There will be a groundbreaking ceremony in mid-September.
The current Fire Station 226 was constructed in the 1950s and has been utilized to provide emergency services since its construction. The current facility is limited in its ability to provide modern fire service operations and no longer meets current building codes and safety standards.
The new station will be more than twice the size of the current one. expanding from 4,300 square feet to 10,267 square feet. The total cost of the project is just over $10 million with the completion estimated to be in one year.
