for San Bernardino’s Newest Fire Station

 

On Tuesday, September 19, San Bernardino County Fire, along with the City of San Bernardino, County of San Bernardino, and San Manuel Band of Mission Indians held a groundbreaking ceremony to launch the construction of the new Del Rosa Fire Station. Station 226 will be the first new fire station in San Bernardino in over two decades.

The state-of-the-art Station 226 will be located at 1920 North Del Rosa Avenue. It will replace the old Station 226, which was built in the 1950's. The new station will be more than twice the size of the current one. expanding from 4,300 square feet to 10,267 square feet.

Among the large crowd on hand to mark the occasion were San Bernardino Council Members Theodore Sanchez, Ben Reynoso, and Damon Alexander, along with County Supervisors Joe Baca Jr and Dawn Rowe, San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus, and San Manuel Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Nelson.

The total cost of the station is $10.5 million, with $3.5 million being funded by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

Construction on the station is estimated to be completed in one year.
