Approaching Storm Forecast to Deliver
Heavy Rains and High Winds
Residents asked to prepare in advance of the storm and limit their travel on Sunday and Monday
The City of San Bernardino and SB County Fire Department are mobilizing resources in anticipation of an unprecedented summer rain event from Hurricane Hilary. At this time, the center of the storm is forecast to pass 60 miles east of Los Angeles, which would be very close to San Bernardino, on Sunday and Monday.
This type of storm contains two types of dangerous conditions: heavy rains and high winds. Potential impacts include flooding, swift water and debris flows, downed trees, downed power lines, traffic signal outages, and blackouts.
If possible, please stay indoors and limit your driving on Sunday and Monday. Avoid driving in standing water, especially in underpasses. Do not try to cross flowing streams of water.
Update: The City of San Bernardino distributed 160,000 sandbags on Friday and Saturday and are now out of sandbags. Over 120 tons of sand were delivered and used on Saturday alone. A very limited number of sandbags remain available at County Fire Stations, but supplies are very limited and may be out.

*Parks and Recreation staff will be on hand to assist with filling sandbags on Saturday, August 18 from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm at Wildwood Park.
Residents are asked to call the Police non-emergency line at (909) 383-5311 with any storm related issues. For emergencies, including downed power lines, residents should call 9-1-1. Following the event, residents should resume using the Call Center at (909) 384-7272, the app GoSBCity, or the City’s website.
